Source text - English In a larger,modern room, a sliding MDF door can partition off the study area from the sleeping zone, or fit a suspension wire to the ceiling and use fabric panels. Even a conventional three-panel screen, decorated with a montage of magazine images, provides a clever division. The most useful desk is long and deep, so there’s room for a computer, textbooks and papers.The cheapest solution
is to fit a length of chunky MDF along one wall, with space below for filing cabinets and a desk chair. It can also double as a dressing table. Leave your daughter to decorate the
tabletop – painting it in a funky colour, or covering it with a collage of bus tickets. A trestle table is also inexpensive. A glass top looks sophisticated, or opt for a plywood top then use a staple gun to cover it with oilcloth or artist’s canvas (great fun to doodle on). An adjustable-height chair on castors with proper lumbar support is important. Provide your daughter with a second-hand office chair, a needle and a basket of remnants, and let her customize that too.
